Habits and mindsets, Punk Rock Documentary Update, Nov 2017 / by Chris Chucas

It’s been several months since I’ve done a previous blog post and a lot has changed since then. I’ve got married and still living in a building site of our first house, and more importantly I’m halfway through my MA and am pretty pleased with the feedback from my peers and tutors on the previous modules.

The project progressed and I’m looking at what’s working and what’s not, in the previous modules I was experimenting with different approaches that included implementing bands and artists lyrics into urban spaces. This was alongside motor with a more traditional documentary approach and portraiture. So right now that’s what I’m focusing on and I managed to go out to a handful of shows over the last month and today I am en route as a very poor MA student to go to DIY Cardiff’s show at Gwd i Hw with Caves headlining. I was going through my website and I realise that I need to adjust the page that I have up which explains my personal project which is Habits and Mindsets, I found that a lot of people seem it shows and if see my images in various places but have not had a look at the statement or my proposal behind the project as a whole. So I edited and made a page with that information and also rotating a few select images and videos that I’ve shot for the project to give people an idea of what I’m doing. I’m hoping to get some zines printed up hopefully with the intention of it being a prequel to a book and the exhibition and from speaking to other guys in the scene who have made zines themselves it should hopefully be received. In other news I am hoping to get the zines together in time for the punk rock flea market in Bristol which is run by some lovely people and hosted at the exchange hopefully there will be a link below and you can check it out. if I don’t manage to get those scenes together in time I was thinking about selling some prints to help fund the travel and costs of shooting the rest of the project if you go over to the Facebook page I have regular updates of what’s going on with the project with the and I would love to hear everyone’s thoughts on prints and the work in general. I’m hoping to have my own band project working on things in the New Year I really excited about that as I finally found my friends at the right time for us to get together and start making music, I feel this would be a really core autobiographical element to the work like I was trying to input with with images of me and the people that I meet from previous modules.
